I was diagnosed with recurrent uveitis in 2012 after several flares of uveitis in my teenage years. I have consistent monitoring and medical care to make sure both eyes stay in remission. For the past 10 years, I have been on different medications in an attempt keep this issue and my other autoimmune disease (a related diagnosis called non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis) under control. The combination of doctor visits to HSS/MGH, injections, pills, and drops is hard and costly to manage on top of a full-time job.

I share this to bring awareness to these rather unknown conditions. I am blessed to have lived in NJ and Boston over the past decade, where I could receive the best care for my uveitis at St. Mary's in New Jersey and at MGH and MERSI in Boston.
